I'm new to the site.so bare with me. I've used Signal Dynamics headlight modules on several bikes. Literally saved my life. They are out of stock till NOVEMBER !! I brought my bike to a certified Honda dealer. I ended up using a Kison Pathblazer. Worked for 2minutes. Shop claims out of the box failure. Has anyone used this brand or another successfully ?

Welcome to the forum. Where are you from? What bike do you ride?

I have used both Signal Dynamics and Kisan brand headlight modulators on a number of bikes. While it is possible to be "bad" out of the box, IMHO that is a low likelihood. I have a Kisan on my 2015 GL1800 with aftermarket LEDs that initially worked but not correctly. Seems I was an early adopter for this configuration, and they were able to make a firmware change to solve this issue.

If I read this correctly, you had a Honda dealer install the modulator. Did you ask them how many of these they have done? Just because they are a Honda dealer does not mean they have a lot of experience installing these.

The ambient light sensor needs to point toward the ground on the Signal Dynamic but toward the sky on the Kisan. Is it installed correctly? The connections between the bike harness and the bulbs is completely different between the two brands and should also be verified.

The current Kisan universal kit can be user programmed to work with either LED or Halogen bulbs. Have you tried to change it?

I also believe the current one can change at what ambient light level the modulator function switches off. Have you checked that?

I have a 2008 GL1800. I think the tech at the shop isn't the best. Other is way across town. I'll call tomorrow see if they'll check it out. I'm a old HD guy who's bad back converted me to Honda. I change oil and filter. That's it...lol
I have a Signal Dynamics Back off module. They said it could only be hooked up to my lower lights. I had a 2004 with lights in the tour pack as well. They all pulsed so I'm frustrated. I appreciate ya

The 2008 stock light bulbs are Halogen. The Kisan is only on the high beams so you can ride even if it's acting strange.

You never said exactly what it did or didn't do. You can get the instructions from Kisan to verify all the settings. You can also work directly with them for a warranty issue if you have the receipt.

If you kept a Signal Dynamics modulator from your HD, it works fine on all Halogen. Modulator is the same for all applications. You will need a harness to fit the four headlight system.

The brake light flasher can be hooked up to some or all brake lights. There is no National standard for brake light flashers and local/state laws can vary.

Assume you are in Tennessee. Suggest visiting Electrical Connection as they are good mechanics, understand bulbs, modulators, etc., and will not waste your time with nonsense.

I was told by the shop headlights worked only on high beam which they did briefly, then nothing. The brake lights will work only on 2 lights because of current draw. I guess my shop in FL hooked the module up to the upper ??This information came directly from Signal Dynamics.
I appreciate the input !

Ah yes. I did not use the Signal Dynamics brake light flasher on my GL1500 as I had six common 1157 incandescent brake light bulbs which exceeds their current specification. But there are good choices for LED bulbs now, including LEDs with a built in flash function. Very easy to replace stock bulbs with the new SoCal LED bulbs with flash function. So easy, a caveman can do it. Sorry to all Cavemen out there.

A far as the headlight modulator goes, I would still go through the motions of verifying it was installed correctly and contact Kisan myself. Very, very easy to switch the modulator between LED and Halogen and it will not work if backwards. They were great to work with when I discovered a previously unknown issue.
