Just as a safety precaution, I reinforced the trunk rack with fender washers and ran a safety cable from the rack to the frame so Pistol wouldn't go bouncing down the road from a catastrophic failure of the rack or trunk lid. He also wears a harness that is tethered to the carrier. If you look close you can see the camera I have mounted so I can watch him on my GPS.
