Anyone going?
Anyone ever go before?

Sounds like it could be fun for a day.
We were planning to take a few days and go camping in Cherokee National park in Sept. so this would be close by (Fletcher, NC).

Gatlinburg isn't too far away. Casino is close by and might still be warm enough to do some white water rafting.

Love2ride...I was thinking about going....was not sure how different it would be in comparison to Wingding in IA this year...I was not happy with Wingding...so I changed my plans to become a hard core biker and go to Thunder Beach in Panama City at the end of Sept....

But NOW after hearing about some cool places in VA and NC.....I am thinking about going to the Smokies Rally...but incorporating the Dragons Tail (or is it the Tail of the Dragon) and the Blue Ridge Parkway into the trip...I am not sure how far apart all of these "cool spots" are.....have not mapped out a trip yet....but I would be interested if anyone along the way from Wisconsin to the Smokies Rally is going and whether they would also be going on the Dragons Tail and the Blue Ridge Parkway....I will watch this thread....

...OK...I know..from other threads and this thread...it sounds like I don't know where to go....I agree...I have time off at the end of Sept and looking for a good trip....about 10 days total...my wife can't make it so I am on my own this time...just looking to get out and ride....its either that or paint the house....

Safe Ride....

MarkH- Just a thought, the BRP and Tail of the Dragon are close together (at the southern end of the Parkway) and either one or both sound like a better option than painting the house. BTW if you plan the entire BRP, you might as well plan on the Skyline Drive as well. The Skyline Drive northern entrance is at Front Royal VA and the other end is at the northern entrance on to the BRP near Waynesboro, VA. Great riding.

Never been since it's such a long ways for us, but I've heard lots of good reports about it. I couldn't resist doing the whole enchilada if I was in the area though.

Tail of the Dragon

I rode the tail of the dragon on July 3rd and it was great. It was my 1st trip on my new used goldwing. They take pictures there from some of the curves and I could not believe how much I was leaning. I scraped the pegs a number of times. The blue ridge parkway was great! There are no trucks on the parkway and there is limited on and off ramps. Basically it is a lot of fun, I'm sure you will like it if you can make the trip.
