Wife and I rode about 400 miles today, working on the TOH Ride. Left Austin at 10 this morning, headed North West to Appleton, then North east to Belgrade, before ending in Little Falls! All back roads. I am pulling the trailer, and still getting 40 mph!! Tomorrow we are heading straight North to Bemidji before going to Duluth. Will be staying in Duluth until Friday, when head South to Austin!!

We went on a 180 mile round trip north of Del Rio, TX this morning and the most exciting thing about the whole trip was stopping for gas. The 1st pic is the wife. The second pic is the kids.

got back from hebron, ky. thursday evening. 1207 miles round trip. the ride thru the moutains was everything I hoped it would be. little bit of rain on the way back, but it was light and short lived. 11 hours in the saddle caused some monkey butt, but the overall ride was easy and a lot of fun. ironhorse purred all the way there and back. planning on doing it again in august.

Rode the scooter to work, my mobile office as I ended up at Brady's for coffee, some planning time, phone calls and even a visit on the GWOF. Something about being on 2 wheels that makes me happy as I am happy today. The scooter is my Checker Cab, a work horse and tough as nails build and dependability. Ought to get a fender sticker; My other bike is a Scooter.

WingRat call to let me know that they were letting traffic through the Oso Slide area and if I want to ride down and have a look. Met and rode down Hwy 9 to Sedro Wooley then Hwy 20ty east to Rockport for lunch then 530 south through Darrington to the slide area. Had to wait for the Pilot Car to escort us through the slide area. No stopping for pictures. Imagine riding a road with mud walls up to 20ft high that were full of rocks, logs, parts of houses all kinds of debris. When we got to Arlington we took hwy 9 north through Big Lake, Clear Lake, Sedro Wooley and home.

The loop through Sedro Wooley, Arlington, Darrington,, Rockport and back to Sedro Wooley, used to be one of our favorite day rides.
Sadly there is still one woman that is still unrecovered. There are plans for more search work this summer.

About 3:00 this afternoon, I asked the wife if she wanted to go for a ride. Sure & to where, was the response. I told her no particular place, just local back roads and off we went. About an hour later, we found ourselves near Cartersville, GA, about 40 miles northwest of home, when we saw the Red Top Mountain State Park sign. Loving picnics, she suggested that we buy Subway for dinner & dine in the park, which we did. Found a lake view table with a cool breeze in the shade and took our time. Got home around 6:30 this evening, logging 116 miles for the ride. Sorry, no pics; you'll just have to take my word for this one as we didn't take the camera and we don't have a phone that sends pics. A very enjoyable ride!

Pretty sure your word will suffice with us, George!:)

That's what keeps you kids young; you're still boyfriend and girlfriend at heart! Seems that and a lot of humor is the key to these longterm marriages/relationships, doesn't it?:)

I enjoyed a nice ride in the St. Croix River Valley this afternoon on "Tatanka" my '85 GL1200 Aspencade which I'm about to sell. Ran great as always. Really hope to find a good home for him!

I really haven't gotten out on the wing as much as you would think. with the construction in the area I only ride to henry's if coming home takes me away from the construction. I haven't made it to nohandle's place yet this summer, no pizza run to Massey's or out to saline. haven't made a ride out to town & country either

Decided this morning to ride to Asheville, NC, to eat at our favorite pizza place, Frank's Pizza, spend the night & ride home tomorrow. Wound up doing a little mountain meandering & these are some beautiful mountains to meander in. First off, 100 miles into the mountains, Norma suggested riding the Cherohalla Skyway, so quickly changed directions and what a great ride. At the end of the Skyway, I suggested that we ride NC129 to Deal's Gap to get on NC28 to Bryson City, which would ultimately get us to Asheville. Finally, we got pointed toward Asheville and arrive here 350 miles later (usually 225) at 7:00 PM, went directly to Frank's & enjoyed every bite. What a fun ride.

Pics 1 & 2: Pulloffs on the Skyway. 3: Pizza at Frank's

A clear mountain morning jumped in my face when I went out to load the bike for home; no fog or clouds on the mountains and plenty of sunshine, so we changed directions again. Instead of home today, we'd ride the Blue Ridge Pky from Asheville to Boone, NC, and stop at the attractions we've neglected on our other visits over the years. Riding only 150miles, we walked probably that much, stopping to see the Craggy Gardens, lunch at Little Switzerland, the Mineral/Rock Museum & an uphill mile hike to see Linville Falls :eekers:. Beautiful weather, around 70F on the ride. We'll head home tomorrow.
1. Craggy Gardens 2. Overlook. 3./4. Linville Falls

Looks great George and Norma! I'm very jealous, you just rode the section of Blue Ridge Parkway that I haven't yet. Linville Falls are pretty nice. South of there was closed last time I was on it.

Don't ride home tomorrow! Try heading toward Hot Springs, NC and then south on NC 209 to Waynesville. It's the Dragon without the traffic. Stay in Maggie Valley and see the Wheels Through Time motorcycle museum. Just an idea but check out those places. I plan on doing that run again one day.

Thanks for the suggestion, Mark. For several years in a row, several years ago, we rented a house in Hot Springs for a few days in the late summer/early fall, and did day rides out of there to those beautiful Western NC mountains including 209, which we still love to ride. The house was advertised as a cabin but turned out to be a nice ranch style house that we found out had been the residence of the owner's deceased parents. Nice place, 3bedrooms & a neat bbq pit/patio area that was great. Over the next few years, the owners found out that they could charge 4X's what we paid, which was to our dismay & it quickly became cost prohibitive. However, we did come home Saturday via Hampton, TN & I-26, which sported a "SCENIC BYWAY" sign, not seen often on interstates and has exits for Mars Hill & Hot Springs before the Asheville exit. We took 40W to Waynesville and on down to Murphy before dipping into Ga.

Those wild Hendersons, Huh? Couple of crazy kids! I've ridden that area a whole lot, and it IS fun! My son and I once tried to walk to the Linville River at the bottom of the Linville Gorge and gave up after about what seemed an hour. Felt like we were no closer than when we started!:eekers:

I took Tatanka for a 60 mile run this afternoon. Have to keep him tuned up for his sale! And we all know that the best maintenance for Goldwing is to RUN them!:)

Ride down to The Rally at Sturgis (MS) today. 1,000's of bikes. Some classic, some custom, lots of Harleys and some Wings too. Lots of people and food. Been doing it for 20 years except the last three when politics halted the fun. So... Great turnout to support the return to Sturgis. Motor vehicle Vehicle Motorcycle Transport Iron
