Dear TrikeLady and anybody else who would like to chime in,

I want to remove the trike kit from my 1989 GL1500, but the two belly bracket jack stands are too long. That is, the bike is too low for those jack stands to fit into the belly bracket; the studs are probably an inch or so too long. I went to PepBoys and Ace Hardware today looking for shorter studs (1/2" diam, 13 pitch), but the biggest automotive stud they had was 3/8" diam.

I thought maybe I could get my HF ATV jack in there but it's way too low to get the jack in there. I suppose I'll call Voyager next week to inquire.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Greg

Thanks for your response. The only problem I see with those machinist jacks is that they do not lock into the belly bracket. If I could find two 1/2"diam, 13 pitch studs about 3-4" long, I'd be set... I think :)

I've ordered two 1/2-13x3 studs for $5. We'll see.

I was thinking more along the lines of the knurled top in contact with the belly bracket since it runs the full length from the engine to where the center stand once was.
If you want something really secure and will hold the bike up.
