Coming up on Sunday June 4, we'll be holding the 15th annual Virginia Ride for Kids. The event benefits the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, where the funds raised fund medical research to try to find the cure (and better treatments) for brain tumors in children.

Over the past 14 years, we've cumulatively raised almost $1.2 million. As the event's name suggests, local families are invited to come out and enjoy our fun-filled event as our VIPs. The Stars (the children fighting brain tumors) and their families are invited to ride along on our police-escorted motorcycle ride through beautiful roads in Henrico and Hanover Counties -- and this year, 2 laps around Richmond International Raceway.

We'll also be holding a bike show, sponsored by Moto Richmond. Winners will be chosen by popular vote and the top prize is a $300 gift certificate for Moto Richmond.

Doughnuts and coffee will be provided in the morning and lunch will be served after the ride. Participants who raise $200 or more will be able to make additional laps around the race track at the conclusion of the event.

And possibly most exciting of all, we give away a Honda motorcycle (among other prize drawings) every year at our event.

This really is a wonderful event and a wonderful cause. We usually have a ton of Goldwing Riders out at our event, so I hope you can make it!

I can't speak for the RFK in Virginia but I've participated for the last 6 years here in North Texas as an escort carrying one of the kids or a family member with me. Seeing the expressions on their faces before and after the ride is truly priceless. For the last few rides, we have started at the Texas Motor Speedway and finished with a couple of laps on the track.

Worth every minute.
