Remember these simple rules,
1. When jumping a lead acit battery connect the pos and neg cables to the battery you are jumpin then to the pos terminal of the battery you are jumping from. Lastly connect the neg cable to a ground AWAY from the battey.
2. When charging a battery allways un plug the charger befor connecting it to the batt and when removing them after charging.
3. Do NOT create a spark near a battery.
I have seen a battery explode in a mans face. Not a good deal. Lead acid batterys produce hydrogen gas when charging or discharging. They can and will explode violently.

From my point of veiw you are correct.The other thing to rember is that the closer that you have the earth cable to the starter the better current you will have to where it is drawing the most current from. Eric
