I have a Garmin NUVI 765 and it has 2010 maps, I have a disk with the newer version maps 2012, when I put the disk into my computer and hook up the Garmin to my computer and hit "send"
it goes through the steps like it is tranfering the new maps but when I check the garmmin it says I have 2010 maps. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

1. Were the map cd's/DVD's from Garmin?
2. Did they come with an "unlock code" which is a 25 character code?
3. Did it come with an 8 character "Coupon Code"?
Without these codes, Garmin won't let you update the maps. They have a lock on their maps by using these codes that you have to pay for. Their "update wizard" requires these codes and if the cd/DVD you have dosen't have them, you might be out of luck as far as updating. They really have a strangle hold on these things.
If the maps were from Garmin, and you have followed instructions, you might have to call them directly for customer support. Just any ole maps won't update the Nuvii's.
I updated this to reflect that some of their disk's may be DVD's instead of CD's.
