Well ladies and germs.....

Spring is almost here. Let's hear from you about any trips you have planned for this year.

The more details the better!

For me...I only have a one week trip semi-planned the 1st week of May...up to Redding and stay the night then visit Burney Falls on the way to Reno for a couple of nights and then Lake Tahoe for a couple of nights. The way this winter has been out in Cali I'm a little nervous about the 1st week of May right now!

Haven't worked out any real plans as yet. There was a mention on here about a western and eastern meet-n-greet. The eastern one was bad timing for me.

But I'll go somewhere around the middle of July for sure. Then September/October is always a great time to travel.

Spending a week with my bra, ironhorse54 in VA the week of Memorial Day. We’ll team up some with our sister and her husband for some day rides and eating out.

In July Eddie and I are going to FL for 2 weeks, staying with friends in Palm Coast who have a GW trike. We’ll do an overnight trip while we’re there to Cedar Key, FL.

We may also do a second trip there in Sep/Oct.

Sometime this summer i want to do an overnight trip to the Flight 93 memorial.

Signed up with Team Strange for the 2023 Grand Tour of Minnesota. Twenty sites to visit and photograph between May 1 and October 31 to be considered a finisher. I did the GTMN last year, but ended up doing most of it solo as my wife was dealing with broken back issues. Now she is all healed up and has a beautiful Endeavor Goldwing trike to ride. It is a low mile 2002, but she likes it. Our son will accompany us as well on his 2005 Wing that he inherited when his older brother passed from cancer back in September. Could do it over four days or so if we went out and did it as one big loop, but I think it will be better enjoyed if we spread it out over the summer. If anyone is interested in this ride, profits from entry fees are donated to charity, and you can see the details here: Team Strange GTMN 2023. This is NOT a rally but is an organized list of places to visit and gives a person some places to go and see, but mostly to get out and RIDE.

We are also looking to do an Iron Butt ride this summer if time and schedules permit. Probably a Bun Burner 1500, but we'll take the easy way out and do it in under 36 hours. It will be a first IBA ride for my wife and the second for Matt and myself. Considering taking a week of vacation and do the northern Minnesota stops on the GTMN at a relaxed pace over three days, then depart from Detroit Lakes Minnesota, go west to Billings Montana, then back to Minnesota via Gillette, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Worthington, Mankato, and back home. 1550 miles for the IBA ride, and about 2200 total.

Should be a good time, really looking forward to spring and summer!

Kerry @edmKC has organized another M&G in Kaslo BC for September 12-15 this year, and started a post on this site. Check it out! All riders welcome! Last year was a good time.
And I’m still thinking about a ride over the Beartooth this summer sometime.

I have a big ride planned for late spring this year. My wife & I are going to do the 4-Corners ride. We're starting in SoCal and going in the clockwise direction. La Quinta CA - Blaine WA - Madawaska ME - Key West FL - San Diego then home. I'm not trying to do the 3-week version, I'm taking a relaxing approach (avoiding Interstates) so it'll be more like 11,500 miles in 6 weeks.

Exactly what I want to do but retirement will have to come first in order for me to take that much time off. Sounds fantastic! No rush, stop when and where you want....I'm jealous.

Did the same thing Buckeye Son. First my retirement, then wife's retirement, then COVID. It's been a wait and then some. We enjoy our little side trips, so it's when & where we like. We have 52 days planned however it's more like a guideline. Be jealous Buckeye Son !

i had a ride planned for some time this summer but due to health issues even riding is on hold
I understand this pain, COVID put me on hold.

TerryWorm, sorry to hear about your son. At least his 2005 Wing went to his brother. Sounds like a great time riding around MN with the family.

JetWing, that is going to be a special trip. Glad to hear that you are taking your time. Just wondering though, would it be better to do the southern portion first, as it may still be chilly up north and hot down south by the time you get there? Welcome to the forum.

This year will be our 50th wedding anniversary. We intend in August to complete my perimeter ride around the lower 48. Western New York to Wilmington NC. Plan to do Quebec and all the Maritimes on that same trip. If I get it done as planned I will have ridden my bike in every state and Canadian province you can drive to. Judy rides the Henderson trike. It will be a fun trip.

Riding the 4-corners counter-clockwise is definitely a strong consideration for the reason you stated. We've ridden in all kinds of weather, from high winds to driving rain to extreme heat (118) and we certainly prefer the milder weather (dry & 65-80 temps).

Every state and every province?! That will be awesome to have both of those boxes checked off.

Out here in California (which I like nothing about except the weather)....this year so far we don't even have that! Getting washed out with, rain, snow and wind for weeks straight.

Normally at this time it's excellent riding weather. I don't know how you tough folks do it up north.

There is a set of three roads in Texas everyone refers to as the Twisted Sisters. But I'm not sure if that was his reference or not.......

This is the time we delve into the next riding season routes. Sitting in a nice warm room with a fireplace burning, scanning over the past rides and RTEs on forums, making our lists with destination addresses, setting up the routes and making changes to roads we have never taken vs. the ones we have done way too often, and creating the GPX files so we can "forget" all those maps we looked at over and over and enjoy the lady informing us of the turns up ahead.

Then there is the getting dressed up like the michelin man and going outside to shovel the walkway and snowblow the driveway.
