I am rebuilding the front forks on my 86 GL1200 Interstate. I found excessive wear for and aft on the inside lower end of the outer tubes. The inner tube is straight. I believe the upper and lower tripple clamps could be miss alighned. How can I check this and correct it if I find it to be true?

I checked my online manual, but didn't see anything that would point you in the right direction, but removing the forks to get at the steering head and triple clamps is necessary. You may have to remove the entire stem and put it on a bench to be sure, that's what I'd do anway.
