I have the 1975 'wing,but it has an 1100 engine.Anyone tell me where to find out which year the engine is by the serial number?

well it didnt help exactly,but any info I can get will help at some point along the line,I am a history lover and love to read about it.If you or anyone has any links to share about the 'wing ,I appreciate it!

All VINs on American Market vehicles have been regulated since the early 80's by legislation. The first 8 digits are encoded with data, the 9th digit is a check digit, the 10th indicates the year of manufacture, and the rest are a sequential production number. However, Reading a VIN's data is much easier with a tool called a VIN Decoder. Type in your VIN and a decoder reveals what is inside:

fluffy, the vin# will only tell you the frame date not the engine date. Trouble is I can't remember where on the engine cases the number is, or if there is information in that number that corresponds to engine manufacture date. Engine#'s for the 1100's should all begin with SC02E-...followed by I think 6 digits. Sorry I can't be of more help.
