I "think" there is a release button inside the trunk, you should find a rubber disk..pull it up to find the button.

Question ? do you have the Pannier/Saddle bag stuffed full ??. If so that might be what's causing your problem excess pressure against the latches. If so the above should help you out.

Thanx BladeRunner and Ron. I found the button and it worked like a charm. I had installed LED lights in the paniers just behind the latch bar and they were interfering with the latch. I've moved them and applied a little white lithium greese to the latches so everything works perfect now.
