You could have a conversion kit put on instead of replacing the stator and regulator. If you change the stator;be sure to change the regulator also.I am having a conversion kit put on my 1984 Goldwing instead of the changing the stator and regulator. The part cost $660;but if it goes bad again it will be a easy install.I have heard mixed reviews on replacing the stator. Some say it last a long time;others say that it last less than the first one.Good luck by all means.
