I purchased an 88 Goldwing about a year ago, and have recently started doing some research on the bike, the issue that i'm having is that the serial number that is on the bike appears to not exist in any records on serial #'s. everything i've seen says that 1988 Goldwing #'s start with 1hfsc2208, but the tag on the bike and the title say it is 2202. Any ideas where the 2202 came from? Also it is a VERY LOW serial number, would this make the bike more of a collectors bike, or make the bike more valuable?

Thanks for any info,

Steve

Call American Honda at 866-784-1870, they can tell you if the serial number is valid. I had that problem with my 08 that I bought new, I was pricing an extended warranty from a place on the internet and I was told by them that my serial number didn't exist. I also checked car-fax and they said it was in valid, I called Honda and they had it in their recoeds.
A low serial number really doesn't mean anything as far as a collector item on a Gold Wing, unless it had almost no miles on it,
