Ok new owner of a 1981 Interstate, I am just starting to get into the bike and want to know why the seat keeps moving back and forward is there something i need to tighten the Clymer book doesn't seem to have anything on it.

I'll see if there's anything in the shop manual on the dealer site. and report back to you what I find.

On the sides of the seat just above the saddlebag lids are two "allen" style bolts. You need to remove the bag lids to get at them. I believe that the one on the left side has a handle that allows the seat to be adjusted. Both bolts need to be tight to hold the seat in the desired position.

Thank you for the help i found the notches and the right alen keys got it locked in..
and passed inspection today.. road for about an hour no issues.. so now for me i think i need to grow about 2 inches and learn the shift points.. Wing GL1100 is a little diffrent then the Hawk CB400.. But fun to ride
