Hi guys, i just signed up on here and am glad to have found a sight to get information on and talk about our bikes. I previously owned a 750 nighthawk and i just bought a 1986 aspencade with 14k,just needs to be cleaned up a bit. I just thought it was about time to buy a cruiser for comfortable rides.

This is probably a silly question but i don't yet have an owners manual but thought it might be under the seat...so how exactly does the seat open lol? I dont see a latch or anything so i'm kinda lost. Secondly, what rpm does the majority of the bikes run at when idle? When i have the choke all the way off it drops below 7-8 and bogs out like the carbs need to be idled up a little higher? And last, where about should the normal temp be at when warmed up and riding?

I appreciate any info you fellas can give me and look forward to posting up pics myself very soon! Thanks

Welcome!
Yeah, the seat doesn't "flip" up like some other bikes. Look for the two bolts, one on either side, towards the rear of the seat(under the pass seat area). These two bolts, and a "tab" at the front of the seat are all that hold it to the bike. You need to remove the tops of the saddle bags to see/get to them. You'll also notice the seat is adjustable fwd/rearward a few inches by removing the bolts, and sliding the seat. My '81 has three positions...don't know about your '86, but it should have the same.

My '81 idles at 7-800rpm when warmed up...
My temp gauge doesn't show number values...just a blue(cold) area, white(operating temp), and red(ouch!). Anything out of the blue area is warm enough to ride....
