Do running lights improve peripheral vision? I think I "need" them but would like to justify them with the boss. After hitting the bear last year, if I could say that extra lights would have prevented the collision, perhaps I could persuade her!

depends on what kind you get and how they mount.

The ones that the PO had put on my wing were only good to help be seen by oncoming drivers, not worth a flip for lighting up the road.

The ones that I replaced them with use a good and bright halogen bulb with a quality reflector. Plus the way they are mounted they can actually be aimed. I ride in a very rural area to work, dark most of the year when I leave. So I have them aimed low enough that they are out of oncoming drivers eyes, but wide enough to light up the ditches. I call them my ditch lights.

You will just need to do some checking..... some states only allow a max of 4 head lights..... Texas does not have that stipulation as long as the extras are lower than the main lights and can be used as driving lights. A student found out that light bars mounted high in the grill and on the roof will get you a ticket.

I have the Honda OEM LED running Lights. They produce a wide angle, flat beam that lights up the sides of the road better. Not so much for distance. Never had a problem with people flashing their high beams at me, so they apparently don not blind them.

I have the Honda LED lower cowl/fairing mount fog lights. Not much for forward vis but if others see me better, I'm good with it.
