Will have to see if one of the 2018+ riders can comment. My 2004 has a setting for automatic volume control that raises the volume as the bike goes faster.

My 2004 and 2012 both have the auto volume. It will only increase it to the max volume the radio is capable of. If he has his turned up all the way, that's a loud as it can get. Auto volume won't help.
From 2006 to 2010, Honda offered an amp as an option. 2012-2017 came with the amp.
On the 2018+, Honda again offers an optional amp. $$$$
J&M also has an aftermarket amp. $1200.
The audio unit in the 2018+ is adequate at best. For the price of the Wing, Honda should have made the amp standard!
One step forward with all the other electronic gizmos, two steps backward on the audio.

I'm at a kind of a handicap since I don't think I've used my external speakers for more than the number of fingers on one hand in 19 YEARS. I even had the rear speakers installed when I rolled out of the dealership in 2004.

I deal with the rap music coming from the cars enough at the traffic signals and I'm sure my choice in music isn't for everyone, BUT I sure do love it. I just have to remember those times I hit the Mute button by mistake.

I gave up on the stereo on my 1800... even with better speakers still sounds terrible. I use earbuds wired and bluetooth.... million times better.
Do you wear a helmet? I know there are speaker systems for them. I don't wear a helmet............ and the tiny earphones are great.... but I still don't listen to music that much but i did listen to Rush.....

On my 1500, I've had that problem when the mute button got stuck on.
