Hello Fellow wingers!!!! I have a tire question. I have a 1996 1500 with almost 90K miles. I have always used the Dunlop Tires. I've been looking around and was maybe considering a different brand. I've heard that the Metzeler ME880's are really good. They're a little more expensive but that's not an issue if they are a better tire. What are your experinces with other tires. I will be leaving on a 4k trip soon and will be changing both front and rear before I leave. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

When I had my 98 Gl1500 I always used the OEM Dunlop tires. I found them to give very good overall performance and usually got between 14K-16K miles from them. I never tried other brands because I was satisified with them. I guess my thought was if it's not broke, don't fix it.

The best tire is a matter of opinion. And, like belly buttons we all have one. I am wearing on a pair of me880s and have no problems. If the Dunlaps have worked for you in the past why change unless you just want to.

I'd stick with the Dunlop tires.

18,000 on my last set of E3's, some 2up, and even more pulling a trailer. The only reason I replaced that set was was due to a nail in the rear. I went back the the Dunlops.

On my second set of Dunlop E3's on my 1500. First set had a noticeable "whine" in the corners. Second set quieter but bit of a "whine" still. I've read this is not uncommon.
I'll stick with them.

My '93 Wing has Dunlop E3. They work well no complaints here.

Was just forced to put a rear tire on yesterday. Found a screw that had caused, but was also plugging , a hole in the tire. The shop had no E-3's in stock, so I opted for the Metzler 880. Only 400 miles on it, but it is very quiet, unlike my 12,000 mile Dunlop ( not an E-3 ). The mech told me not to be surprised if it gets a bit noisy with age. I'm enjoying the moment.

When the time comes, I plan to go Bridgestone. I just had a Dunfloppy develop a bulge in the right sidewall 2 weeks ago. Even though it had 7,000 miles it was replaced no questions asked with a new e-3 at no charge to me.

I've been running e3 all the time. I just replaced my back tire a couple of days ago and the shop (that only works on Goldwings) says its the most popular tire that people want.

I had Metzelers on my 1500 when I bought it, front tire cupped out bad by 8,000 miles. Same thing with the second set, but loved the way they gripped the road. Started using E3's when they first came out, they wear good but I just don't like the feel of them. I'm on I think my third set and thinking about trying the Avon's this time.

I had a new e3 back tire mounted on the rear a week and a half ago and just came back from Americade in the Adirondacks and touring around NH, VT, and upper NY state. Weather as usual wet at many a times. The tires worked great buzzing around the twistys with my 1500 fully loaded and wife on back.
