Project Gold Wing Owner

I had a Gold Wing for a short time last Summer. Traded it in on a R1150R BMW which is nicely equipped for touring but there was just one problem....my wife was more comfy on the Gold Wing. Well, what's a guy supposed to do, if touring is in the plans, but to buy another Gold Wing? I just finished unloading what will probably end up being a several month's project, a 1983 GL1100 Interstate. It survived a tornado. The shop building it was in was destroyed but somehow the building didn't actually collapse on it. It was partially disassembled with some work being done on it. My biggest fear is what condition the engine is in, since it was sitting now for 2 1/2 years with the spark plugs out. The bike has just under 9,000 miles on the odometer.

Our family (wife and two teenagers) is up to 8 motorcycles now. I'm in my mid 50's and just recently started riding regularly again about a year ago. I've been riding on and off for almost 40 years. Our whole family went through the MSF course last fall and that was certainly time well spent.

For now I'll probably have lots of questions but hopefully can contribute positively on occasion.
