I got a show chrome drivers backrest and am putting it together. The hinges for the pad to the hoop can be assembled in two ways. Instructions give no clue, just put togther.

I can't upload any pic's due to size issue and my camera. Can anyone upload or direct me to a pic of the hinge/parts for the show chrome pad to hoop conection?

First Thank you for the place to post pics so I can just refer to the url here.

The pic is when it is not mounted on the bike but shows how it has this flop look to it. When not mounted, is this normal? I assume the seat would prevent the top pad from hanging as low as it is in the picture.

Click on the pic below, then the download link and open. (hopefully I posted it correctly)

Also a look at the hinges here at

Your pic looks correct to me. I suggest you rotate the pad into the correct position and tighten the nut/bolt(1C) sufficiently so the pad will stay up and not "flop" down as shown in your pic.
This "help" is coming from one that has never actually had or worked on this type of backrest! Just looked at your pics and the link I posted above.
Let us know how it goes and if you get some real help from someone that knows what they're talking about!

I had one like that on my 98SE and you have to tighten the bolts up so the pad doesn't flop around,
