new to me '82 GL1100 w/ 31K miles. My first Wing...love the road sofa and looking forward to farkling and working on her. Runs great but am getting a few oil drips on garage floor after a ride looking like it's coming from the timing belt cover? Could that be is there oil in there? Or is it more likely that the leak is coming from somewhere else and just dripping from the timing belt cover?

Should be no oil coming from the timing cover. Park the bike on Maintenance stand after cleaning the entire bottom. Put down paper and see where it is coming from, then follow the reverse gravity to find the original leak

As old as the bike is,is entirely possible a cam seal is leaking, better get in there and take a look.If belts have been done you don't wanna getem oiled down. Let us know what you find, thanks.

As suggested, the best thing is to put the bike on it's center stand and loosen the timing cover and see if yopu have oil inside. The timing belts will not appreciate the oil so you need to fix the leak. If the inside of the cover is dry, then try the reverse gravity thing and try to find the source of the oil.
