Welcome to the forum and thanks for all of the photos.
I think Posts are just a Newspaper without pics. but with Pics they become a Story?

Welcome to the forum and to Goldwings. Thanks for the photo.
Thankyou for your kind words, I hope to get my chair on the road shortly. Then the Adventure begins.

Hi folks,

My name is Jim - another Jim.

I bought my 2022 Goldwing DCT early last year from a local dealer here in New England. I had an Indian Challenger Dark Horse on order in early thru mid 2022 and put up with the waiting game for about 6 months before bailing.

I ran across my Goldwing shortly after as a delivered bike to the dealership without the intended buyer, and quickly snatched her up. I am so glad I did...

I'm 56 years old and 2023 will be my third full season of riding. I rode my first year with a older starter bike, a 2002 Suzuki Intruder 800 that I nick named First Love, which was great for learning but can't begin to compare with the performance or comfort my Goldwing delivers.

I had the opportunity with a more experienced rider friend to do a 10 day 2 couple trip last summer, with chase car, from Maine via ferry to Nova Scotia for a Cabot Trail ride. That was an awesome & memorable vacation. It was also when I concluded the Goldwing was the right choice for me.

I just brought my ride out of winter slumber yesterday and rode her to the local dealer for a sticker, service and some tires today. I am so looking forward to exploring new curves & visiting old ones this year. The honeymoon with this machine feels like it's still there. Goldwings just rock.

This is her:

Hi. I am a future Goldwing owner. I am planning to build an 82 GL1100 into a cafe racer style bike. I know, cafe racer builds are so cliche but I'm planning to make it fairly unique by doing an EFI and electronic ignition conversion on it. I want to plan the build before I buy a bike for the project. I also am living overseas now and may not be back stateside for a number of years so I am kind of planning the project vicariously till then. I am hoping that I'll be able to get help and inspiration from this forum.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Welcome to the forum. Your project will be interesting to follow.
I know that some people frown on people doing efi and ignition systems on those bikes so I hope I don't get flamed too badly.
This is a friendly forum and we are not into flaming others for anything.

It will be interesting to watch your development. Please post your concepts and efi system desired. The electronic ignition is available already.

Hello, I just joined the site after buying an '07 GL1800. I've been riding since I was 12. (66 now). I sold my Ultra Limited, and decided to give a Goldwing a try. So far I'm impressed. It's a nice ride. Looking forward to many miles on it this summer.

Anyway, HI!!!

Thanks,
Rich

Welcome, and I hope to read comparisons you find between the different machines.

Hi,
I’m new to the forum; so this is my first post.
I have a bit of a problem and I’m hoping someone can help. I just got a 1981 GL1100 Interstate; it’s my first bike, and unfortunately I got jacked. The bike started up when the seller showed it to me, and it started when I took it home to show my wife. Then it sat for a week, until I took my permit test on the weekend, and when I (passed) got home to ride it, it wouldn’t start at all. I’d hit the ignition and it just clicked only. After 4 attempts it stopped even clicking, and it was just dead. This bike cost me $3000. I spoke to the seller, and he’s unwilling to take it back, he said; so now I’m pretty pissed.

I trickle charged the battery - Nothing.

I put in a brand new battery - Nothing.

I took it to a shop - They said the relay is definitely shot, and they think it might need a new starter, but they’re asking $500 to take the motor apart and find out exactly what’s wrong. Additionally, they wouldn’t know for sure until they do that, but once they do, I could be looking at $2000 to get it running again, depending on what it is. So $2500 is a whole ‘nuther bike!

I wasn’t trying to spend more money on this; I just wanted a summer ride. Now I have a lemon sitting in the driveway :\

Is there anyone here (since you guys really know these bikes) that could help me solve this problem? Furthermore, I just got the call, so I’m not sure exactly when yet, but I’m deploying sometime in June (USMC), and now I’m upset I may never even ride this thing between now and then and I’m just SOL.

Any help?

Located in Sunbury, PA 17801.

Thank you!
