Hello everyone, I have a 03 ST1300 that i have put over 45,000 miles on that I absolutly love but the bike is too tall for me and it throws a lot of heat and is uncomfortable to ride if it's over 85 degrees outside so I figured i'de get something that has a lower seat hight and dosen't throw a lot of heat...hence forth the Goldwing. I like the wind in my face so I need a adjustiable windshield so I need a 2018 or newer. I see a lot of them out there with less than 3000 miles on them and like new. So my question is .......is there something wrong with a 2018 to 2022 Gold Wing 6 speed that I don't know about ? Is the bike too big? is it top heavy? does it blow too much heat? Why are these guys getting ride of them after riding them after such a shot time

There have always been and always will be those that "think" they want a big motorcycle and go off and buy a new Gold Wing or a new Harley after having NEVER rode before.
Probably part of that midlife crisis thing, then realize that the big bikes scare them and that they really never ride it and the payments aren't tiny, so they sell them, still pretty much in the box new and not played with.
Makes it nice for those of us that ride them for years and put lots of miles on, they eat the depreciation, and in turn leave us a really nice slightly used bike. Probably dropped a time or too, but we know that doesn't hurt a wing.

I, too, had an 03 ST1300 and upgraded to an 04 Goldwing in 2020. I found the ST to be a bit too heavy while the GL has a nice low centre of gravity. I find it easier to control, even though it is a heavier bike. I haven’t ridden the 2018 or newer Wings, but with the boxer 6 engine mounted low, and the lower fuel tank the centre of gravity would be low, I would imagine. The stock windscreen on my Wing is not power adjustable like the ST, but I switched it out for a MadStad and it works great for me. Stops helmet buffeting and I suppose if I wanted, I could easily manually adjust it to have the wind in my face! I guess what I am saying is that I love my Goldwing!

+1 on what dsurley stated. There have been several members on here that purchased a new Wing, only to find out that it's not the bike for them.
(I think I'd want a 2020 or newer, they seem to have worked the bugs out by then.)

I traded in my 2010 for a 2021. The '10 rode great and I left it with 159,000 miles on the odometer. The '21 rides even better. I ride it daily and plan many a trip.

Well, i've owned two GL1200s and two GL 1500s (which I much prefer to any other). I've ridden many of the 1800 and have yet to ride a goldwing of any year that i would call top heavy. The boxer style engine and gas tank under the seat keeps the weight low and easily managed. If the seat hight is a problem, just know that there are after market saddles that will lower the seat hight as much as an inch or more. I am 5' 10" and an sit on a GL1500 with both feet flat on the road. On the windshield height, you can also buy after market shields at whatever height you like. Personally, i don't like to look over the top of the shield. I've been hit between the eyes by June Bugs that nearly rendered me unconscious. If a bug can do that just think what a rock would do. I don't want my eyes exposed to that kind of damage.
I sort of depends on what you are looking for in a bike. Long range rides, around town rides, or what. If you are looking for long range confort you can't beat a GL1500. If you are more sporty, any GL1800 will do.
Presently, I am riding a !985 GL1200 and the only thing I really miss is the cruise control.
Ride much! Ride safe!

I had two touring Harleys but switched to Goldwings in 2021 when they increased the storage capacity. Between the automatic transmission (which is friggin smooth and nice), the electric windshield (which cuts out practically all noise at highway speeds), the decreased weight (150 lbs lighter than the Harley), and the much lower center of gravity (which makes it a LOT easier to hold up), it’s my opinion that you will be very happy with the GW. My brother had a 2018 and loved it but traded it in for a ‘21 and says it is better. One reason is they increased the audio output from 25W to 45W. He says it’s a big difference. I’m 67, the Harley got too heavy for me at times and I love the ‘21 GW. If you don’t care about the storage capacity (the ‘21 has 11 more cu ft) then consider the 2018-2020.
