From what I read on this board and others it is normal. My '08 does it. I don't know how loud yours is but mine is not that noticable.

I Have A 2006 Gl1800 The Alternator Makes A Very Hi Pitch Whine- Any Sugustions-lew
If you have just started to notice it or it has gotten worse then it could be one of 2 things. It could be the rear bearing has spun in the casing. It should sound like a whine or rumbling sound. Or it could be the belt has gotten old and is turning hard. When the rubber hardens it can make noise. Either way it is best to check into both now before more damage is done. Catch it early and it is not near as expensive as replacing the whole Alt. Otherwise the alts. do whine normally but if too loud it may be a worn part.

My 05 began to whine badly around 28,000 mi. I replaced the alternator and it took care of it. Dealer said bad bearing. No warranty assistance.
