I just picked up a 2008 Gold Wing and I love it! I also own a 2003 HD Deuce Screaming Eagle that I like a whole bunch, but cannot ride it for any great distances. My wife can take the small seat and stiff ride (alright guys, easy now) for about an hour. We demoed a new Wing last year and she felt much more comfortable the whole package. I was amazed with the handling and overall comfort. The reverse was a big deal closer after having bad knees and riding a 1987 Cavalcade, which was much taller and I had to push backwards on my toes. Ouch.
The bike has everything but the Airbag, and is bright red. In order of importance to me, I am going to add some safety equipment and, let’s face-it, some things to dress it up. In this order: Rider foot pegs (installed same day as I got the bike and found out that my hip will not spread apart to go around the fairing to reach them!), Driving lights, lighted trunk and saddlebag moldings, rear spoiler with lights, lit trunk handle, lighted led front reflector conversion, Pulsating break light controller, front fender mud flap. Then some shark grills, fairing intake vents, lower cowl chrome, ISO grips and finally front and rear fender extensions. Somewhere in this order and depending on my back, a back rest.
The question is this: what really the best driving lights to buy? They are mounted so low to the ground that it’s hard to imagine that any of them will reach out that far, and not all brands mention the output ratings. Is there anyone or anywhere to see them side-by-side in a comparison? Also, any feedback on the trunk and saddlebag lights? I think I want the Kuryakyn, but what does the chrome lens look like (not shown on their catalog) vs. the red lens? By the way, the bike is Metallic Red. Thank you in advance for some guidance here, I have been reading may posts regarding tires so I am sure I will get some qualified opinions.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new Wing. You are going to love long distance travel on the bike. On my 2009 so far I added the rear spoiler with brake light, trunk rack (kurykan), 12v accessory outlet and driving lights. I chose the Honda LED lights over the halogen because they last longer and give off a brighter light (IMO). They seem to work well, but if your looking for something to illuminate far down the road you may need to search for another brand of light. Probably ones that are mounted up higher on the forks.

Find some good roads to travel and enjoy the riding season.

Tires

Congrats on your new wheels and welcome. Just a quick comment on tires, I'm on my second set of Donlop Elite III's got over 20K out my first set. But I'm sure other guys have had good luck with other brands too. Matt
