I am buying a new 2008 AL Goldwing and I am thinking of having Torque Master King Snake Power Mufflers installed to give the bike more of a Porsche sound. Good or bad idea and is there some machanical or warranty issues? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Most people buy the Gold Wing because they like quiet, but if you do I would save the stock pipes to put back on if you need any warranty work. Some dealers are a pain about warranty work with any modifications done to the bike.
+1 on what Joe said about the stock/warranty issue. In actuality, it isn't so much the dealer as Honda themselves. All OEM's these days are requesting photo evidence to evaluate warranty validity on claims. The same goes with warranty time factors. Once upon a time Honda and mostothers would allow claims well past the coverage period. Now once the original period is up, you are on your own, unless you purchase extra coverage (prior to the end date) from Honda or an outside source. Sometimes the out-sourced packages are better than the OEM's.
Thanks for the heads-up on warranty issues. I'm still not sure about the pipes. I do like a little rumble but not the big noise. We have a couple in our group that have 1200 Honda (I think) and he put on new pipes that are much louder than Harley's so you can imagine how noisy they are. Dave and his wife both put in ear plugs to drive down the road and we scamble to be infront of him. That is not what I want but just a little rumble to know the bike is running. Thanks again for the advice.
