We are going to try, very hard to make this one. We will be camping though and looking on the net, probably at the Grandfather Campground. Unless someone knows of a better place.

I am looking at trying to make this one. Also looking at Grandfather Campground. If you find something better keep us posted.

UPDATE:
made reservations at the Mountain View Moto Campgrounds in Elk Park.

Pencil me in. I'll be looking at that Murder Mountain ride for you George. Ten hours, 633 miles from the house. Sounds like a good HAT ride there and back.

Won’t make this one. Judy has us off in Scotland. One of my favorite places.
Sure sorry to hear that, but enjoy Scotland. Martena and I have that on our bucket list.

George,
This what you have in mind for the Murder Mountain Run?
https://goo.gl/maps/cxaQR4ZiPWQ2

As depicted it is a 4 hour (moving) ride of 145 miles. Riding counter-clockwise it is 2 1/2 hours and 85 miles to Little Switzerland for a lunch stop. We don't start or end the same place as the ride described but add some to get from Banner Elk.

This is what is said about it on http://www.blueridgemotorcycling.com/ride-maps/murder-mountain-run/
"Murder Mountain Run is a diverse and sometimes challenging ride, offering something for everyone........Most of the ride is either scenic byways with excellent views or peaceful country roads. Expect no or low commercial traffic on most of these roads. This is a pleasurable ride that winds through many small towns and over an incredible mountain."

Another tidbit;
"At the stop sign in Micaville, you are facing the historic Micaville Country Store. Turn right here and right again in about 2/10 of a mile onto 19E heading toward Spruce Pine. In about a mile, when NC 80N turns left, follow it across the creek and head toward Kona. At this point you have used about 1 hour of casual drive time.

Kona is famous for being the hometown where the first ever woman was hanged in North Carolina. It provides the story behind the "murder" part of this ride's name
."

We may need to stop at the cemetery in Kona to pay our respects to Charlie.

North Carolina, North Carolina, North Carolina!!!!!

Hannah and I stay at the Smoketree Lodge in Banner Elk every time we are in that area. Just down the road from the Pedalin' Pig BBQ! Reasonable rates, QUIET location.

I have a room reserved and a roommate to go with. The Golddragon will be there also.

Hey look, there is a brewery just 1.8 miles from the hotel!

What are the odds?
