I have to wear a lid. It's the law here. Wish it wasn't, but it is. I may be heard headed but the " Old Dominion " is just plain stubborn and bull headed.

I just left Charlestown Casino in WV, was not even to the main road yet when I had a bee fly through my open shield and get caught between my sunglasses and eye. I was stung or bit several times before I could stop without wrecking(just barely), remove my sun glasses and remove one very mad bee from my eye. Then the race was on, I had a 60+ minute ride to get home with my eye swelling shut. I had to finish the last half of the ride home with one eye since the other had swelled shut. I am now very paranoid about keeping the shield up on my full face helmet when riding.

Back in the 70's while riding my TX500 going about 75 mph, I was hit in the shoulder by a large pinching bug which has a hard shell. Thought I was shot when it hit. Glad it wasn't my head...

my head

I have a rather large nose that glasses don't fit too well on. One evening a moth went under my glasses and fluttered around my eyeball until I could get stopped.

Came close on many birds, tons of bugs, something hit me right above the nose piece of my glasses after it cleared the windshield and felt like I was shot. Of course the good old Gibbs head slap once in a while for being a pig. Second looks usually aren't worth it if you have a co-rider.

Ducked a 'Flying' road gator on I-10 last year.
Little bugger was tossed from the road by a car in the left lane. It flew about 6" over the windshield. I saw it coming and ducked, certainly didn't want to get hit with that.

I was about to pass a dump truck when a rock from his truck fell, bounced off the pavement and made contact with my pretty face, at a cool 55mph. I do not advise following any trucks.

In Virginia lives some very large fat bodied bumble bees about the size of a quarter.
I was going up skyline drive when I saw from a distance a very large bee- bug coming I barley got my head out of the way of that one only to be hit by another Splat right in the face shield . man the guts covered my shield I had to pull over to clean my helmet.

This is what I tell all of my girls, men are pigs and a good Gibbs head slap is always a good thing.

I was going down the roadway one day and came up behind an 18 wheeler that was making a loud noise......I decided to back off a bit and it was a good thing I did as one of his rear trailer tires blew. The road gator rubber flew over my head and landed in the roadway behind me. The truck then pulled off the road and I went on past it to the next service station to stop and get something to drink and also to do a short check.

I now do not get up behind those trucks and if I am on the slab and one comes up and decides to go around me I let him and I make sure he goes on up the road away from me.

One of my close calls , I was following a pick up truck from a distance that was transporting plywood . At one point I was looking in my mirror and when I look up I see this sheet of plywood flying in the air and spinning, I just had time to duck and the sheet hit the top of my helmet. I was lucky I saw it in time, if I didn't have a helmet, it could have knock me out. The driver in the car beside saw this and made the sign if OK, I was OK, that was close. This was on a Suzuki I had, no wind shield.

Ive had several incidents over the years, but only one head shot. I was riding a kz1000 with a sport fairing on my way from charlotte nc to raleigh. I had a full face but no shield, just sunglasses. I see this huge bumble bee hangin down the lane and im duckin and moving my head, but zip right in the old face mask,, missed my eye and went all the way into my helmet next to my temple by the ear. I stopped real quick and let him out, he didnt even sting me. wow.

the oddest miss was a 6' ladder spinning in the middle of my lane. there were 3 lanes79 of moving heavy traffic, I was on a xs100, I timed it beautifully and cruised through the spinning ladder, couldnt do that again in a hundred years.

Last Saturday during the poker run I got a bumble bee right between the horns. Above my glasses and below the glare shield of my helmet. Didn't get stung, reckon the poor bugger lost his mind before he had the chance to let loose with the dart. Still left a good size welt.
