One thing I learned from locals about the Deadhorse ride is that clogged air filters can become an issue. Seeing the layers of dust on trucks coming down from there certainly backs up the warning.
Thanks, that is good advice that I didn't consider. Will look into getting some pre-filters for the adventure bikes, they are like socks that can be removed as they get dirty, easier than trying to bring spare filters. :smile2:

I have really enjoyed reading your blog and your posts on here. I have told several people I know about your adventure. Not sure that I will ever get to do a trip this extravagant but I sure want to take a couple of weeks and head out with no firm plans other than seeing some country and doing some riding by myself.

I was on vacation last week and missed a few days of your blog. I saw in one of your latest blogs a reference to "chip readers" of which you didn't seem to pleased with. I have gone back through other pages and can't find a description of what you were talking about.

What are these "chip readers" you refer to?

Thanks and glad your trip was without major difficulty.

Canada uses the chip on credit cards. Completely. Hotels, restaurants, gas! Because the chip readers aren't the same, you've really got to read the screens before pushing any buttons. They're slow too.

Oh ok. All USA merchants were supposed to have those by Oct 2015 but most don't. Glad to hear it was cc chips you were referring to. I was afraid they had come up with traffic control chips that would electronically measure speed as you passed a reader ?

Glad to hear you're home safe and sound and look forward to hearing you've started on Part II.
