What a great weekend for a ride. The wife and I both had Friday off so we decided to take the Yamaha up to Memphis for the weekend. Took off mid-morning Friday and it was still a little cool but beautiful. Went up through the Delta to Southaven, MS which is just south of Memphis. On Saturday we toured Graceland. Something my wife has wanted to do for years (that is how I got her on the bike for a weekend). Interesting tour, I never was a big fan like the wife but enjoyed his music. Today we rode back through Oxford and down to the Natchez Trace. Except for around Memphis and here around Jackson it seemed like we had the road to ourselves. Very little traffic and the temperature actually hit 80 today. Big sweeping curves and open road, can't be beat.

The wing is supposed to be ready by next weekend when we have a trip planned with our GWRRA group to Diamondhead, MS. A new chapter is starting there and they have a fun day planned. We used to live on the coast so will spend the night and visit friends. Hope the weather forecast holds up.

" I spent this beautiful weekend helping a " friend " move. Mz. Vickie is the Realtor and I am the pack mule on this house sale. It's ok though, I can get my ride vicariously through others here. Yes, Crownfire: Big sweeping curves and open road..........I'm with you. And if next weekend for me is a repeat of this one I look forward to our trip down to St. Louis Bay. Will we be riding Highway 49 all the way, or hitting 59 out of Hattiesburg ? Either way is fine by me. Save an imaginary spot in your group ride for me." Sincerely, Moving a " friend " in Virginia.

Riding to Memphis

My wife and I will be coming to Memphis in September. She has also been wanting to go to Graceland for years. We will be staying in Memphis a day or two before heading back to PA. Do you have any sugesstions for other attractions in the area? I just bought a 2010 Wing and looking forward to a great riding season including this TN trip. :)

Chopin114; I like hitting I-59 at Hattiesburg so that I can get off at MS Hwy 53 and take it down to MS Hwy 603 then on to Hwy 90. They are much better roads for riding with a lot less traffic. I’ll do my best for you. Hope you get a free weekend soon.

Abc15108; Memphis has a lot of great blues places downtown on and around Beale Street. You shouldn’t miss that if you can help it. I’ve heard the Hard Rock Café has a very good collection of Elvis stuff on the second floor. We didn’t make it downtown this time so didn’t get to see that. If you like casinos it is a short ride down US Hwy 61 to the casinos in Tunica County, MS. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn, Southaven, MS (I had points built up from work) which was very nice. This was at the intersection of I-55 and MS 302. There are a lot of good places to stay in and around town. I’m not sure how you are getting down here, but US Hwy 64 is a good run from Chattanooga to Memphis.
