I bought a non-running 81 that looks lk nu but carbs are predictably fouled after sitting several years. Bought kits before knowing anything or having Howard Halazs wonderful book, in he advises don't buy anybody's kit but Randakk. Having already committed, I got to last carb #3 before anything really bad happened, aside from general confusion, then on that one the main jet, if that is the right name, stuck in the body. The end maybe about .030" diameter broke off and stayed in the throat of the cab. Now reading Howard's book, he pronounces it the death of that carb. Understandably. My tip cleaners are not strong enough to push it out from the top. I've seen referenced to miracle solvents like Berryman B12 and SeaFoam, but I can't believe they are better for this purpose than my dip bucket, made for soaking, and it's already been in that. I don't see any #3 only carbs for sale on eBay, but maybe a full set will go cheap enough.
Any thoughts/experience on this?
