I have pulled a trailer over most of the U.S. and into Canada with a GL1000, GL1100, GL1500 and my first GL1800. I'm going to Wing Ding this year at the end of this month. Leaving Sunday Aug 25th. This will be the first long trip I've taken without pulling a trailer. I'm not going to install a hitch on this bike. At least for now I am not. I also don't have the trunk luggage rack. I am riding solo because the wife doesn't ride anymore due to health reasons. So, I have the passenger seat to place a bag or something suitable for the trip. What, if any, would be the preferred bag I should use that will easily attach to the passenger handles and be rain proof. I know I can always stuff a gym bag in a garbage bag and strap it to the bike but the look is tacky. Comments, please.

My better half doesn't ride anymore either. I have these;

But have really only used one side bag consistently.

I have this for the luggage rack, but I'll bet it would fit on the back seat also;

Normally I just have one bag of my clothes in side saddle with rain gear, half bike cover, and extra shoes in the other side saddle. That leaves the trunk for miscellaneous stuff. I have a small cooler for the back seat and have strapped a tent on top for a long trip where we were camping occasionally. Last year I went with WARWGN on a 7,000 mile ride and I didn't have too much, or too little, stuff.

Well you could just get a couple of those paper grocery bags with the loop handles on them and you'd have a pair of "Go Anywhere Bags".
Some of these other guys would know hat I'm Talking about.:wink2:>:)

I use a Lazy Rider on the back seat of my 1800. Also serves as a backrest. I have had the bag since 2003 or so. Great product. Dry for sure. I pack 6 days of clothes in it.

I have the Rivco luggage rack/pack that mounts behind the bike and love it. Comes off to carry to your hotel room.
