I hope I don't get run out of town, so here goes.
As you can see from my user name, I'm not a Goldwing owner,
but my computer illiterate Uncle is. Although, I had a 1980 1000 for about two years back around 1993. Never should have sold it. My Uncle has three of them, a bright metallic yellow 2001 1800 that he just converted to a trike last summer and two 81 1100's that he's currently got torn down to the frames. He asked me to "look on that internet thing" for parts for his '81 1100 that has a bad crank. It was making one hell of a knocking noise when we cranked it up and he thinks he needs a crank and is looking for a short block or possibly a long block if the price is right.
I don't have his engine numbers at the moment, but I wanted to ask if there is an engine number database online somewhere so that I can check the parts that he finds to make sure they will bolt up. One engine that I've tracked down had these numbers: SC02E (raised #) and 2325222 (engraved). I don't know what they mean and need to find out.
Love the forum. I'll try to get my Uncle on here from time to time and see if I can get him learned in the ways of that internet thing.
