For the record, they are no match for a Kenmore Elite front loader washing machine... even if the washer does use 40% less water.

I always carry a spare key on my belt just in case I misplace or lose the bike key during an outing. After sending my main key and remote through the washer in my jeans pocket, I've since ordered a replacement remote from Midwest Keyless on e-bay and programmed it to work.

As a deterrent, I now keep the remote on my belt with the spare key and use the original in the ignition. This keep the remote out of my pocket and also keeps it from causing additional scuffing on the ignition switch bezel.

BTW, the remote was $49.92 + $7.49 shipping. :(

I have a Maytag top loader. I'll try my fob in it tomorrow. Might be a problem with the front loader design.

Keep me posted. I'm not totaly sold on washing my clothes with three gallons of water (or so it seems) per cycle.
