Just bought a used 04

Been looking to switch from race bikes to touring bikes for quite some time now. Finally bit the bullet when I found a used 04 about a week ago. Dropped $12K on it but don't feel so bad because it has a few aftermarket goodies. I'll try selling it for a profit, and get myself banned.

I love the Wing! It's plush and smooth and rock solid at speed. Can't wait to hook up with others in my area that enjoy getting out and hitting the road.

I can't believe the aftermarket options for this bike. It has to be the most customizable bike in history! First thing for me is to get a couple new helmets with com sets in them. Any suggestions? J&M seems to be a popular brand. I don't want to blow tons of money on a helmet/com setup. I usually buy Shoei helmets but I'm actually leaning towards an Arai model this time. Open face seems the way to go on the Goldwing. I also plan to get a taller windscreen for it soon. Any recommendations?

I look forward to tapping the knowledge base in this forum. Happy riding!

Hey Kevin, congrats I also just bought a goldwing and loving it. I bought the headset sets separate from the helmets. I wanted to get helmets that matched the color of my bike. you can get the head sets from several places online motortourinc.com or wingstuff.com have them. Welcome to the wing club I have been made to feel very welcome here and rthe people are very helpful and friendly
Congrats on your new Wing and welcome to the forum. There are always lots of farkles to spend your hard earned $$$ on. Enjoy and ride safe.
Out of curiosity, there are three loose plugs exiting the right handlebar right before the clamp for the brake master cylinder/lever assembly. One is a 1/8" plug, another is what appears to be a DC power plug, and the last appears to be a coaxial plug. Is this series of wires standard or is it something the previous owner put on? He did tell me that he had an XM radio on it but removed the mount before selling it to me.

I plan to buy my helmets separate from the comm units. Seems to be easier to match colors that way and it makes for almost limitless variety.

I've browsed wingstuff.com quite a bit and found lots of bling I wouldn't mind getting, but I'm sticking to function right now...form will be soon to follow.
hello and welcome to GWOF kevin, check out www.cyclemaxohio.com too. not sure of what wireing the po may have added to your wing and hopefully one of the 1800 wing owners can answer your question

I'm going to take a guess and say they were added by the previous owner. My 09 does not have any of those wires. My guess is they are for a XM/Sirus radio or a GPS and the plug to power it. Can you contact the provious owner? He would know for sure, but tha't my guess.
