The problem is not the bike, it will be the rear tire. Keep the pressure good and keep an eye on it. That is why some of us run a car tire on the rear, then the weight is a non issue

 

And keep the rear suspension set to keep it from bottoming out.

 

I rode with a couple in GWRRA who makes you two look skinny. They loaded up their bike and went on rides all the time, no problems. As was said, keep that rear tire aired up. You may wear it out a little faster than others, but enjoy the ride.

 

I met a couple at Wing Ding back in 2000 that probably should have had a custom made motorcycle with a Cummins Diesel and truck tires to hold them up!!! I would guess based on my experience around larger people that the 2 combined weighed in excess of 500 lbs plus all the luggage they had on the bike and a TRAILER(?) behind! 1500/6 Gold Wing hauled them!

I am sorry, but I do not believe in the FORCE.
I just got two new tires on my ride. See how it goes. Also, the dealership I am dealing with won’t put car tire on my bike.

 

Ha. Two up with luggage we go way over. No issues. Tires don't wear any faster, although we are not two up ALL the time so it's hard to judge that I guess. But no worries.

 

They rode a Harley, but I know a guy and his wife that have to be 550 pounds between the two. He is tall, maybe 6'4" and easily 300 pounds. She isn't very tall, but well rounded, and pretty sure she is 250 pounds. I remember the Harley weighed over 900 with gas and oil and the weight limit was a bit over 1250 pounds. So, without gear and luggage they were about 1400 pounds, so 150 pounds over, at least!

Keep in mind the manufacturer has yo put a safe weight on them with a bit of extra for a safe zone. It isn't like the max weight is 1000 pounds and at 1001 the bike will collapse. But, consider if you do have a failure and over weight, it is on you.

 

I would attempt to get front and rear axle weights with the two of you on the bike and your bags loaded up with whatever you would normally travel with. This will help pick tires with a weight capacity that exceeds what you would load up.
