I like the heat less and less myself. Try to ride early in the morning and home before the heat gets unbearable.

When I'm on an extended trip....if I could get the wife to get up and on the road super early...I would do it. Unfortunately, that won't happen so it's usually 8 am or so before we get out and then we get some of the afternoon heat later. Just this past Saturday, took the bike out for about 310 miles from home over to Half Moon Bay...down the PCH through Santa Cruz and on into Monterey for lunch.I like the heat less and less myself. I agree...the heat "hurts" more than the cold bothers. Stay pretty dry on the Wing unless you stop I imagine.I used to ride when it was 100+
now, I start to ponder as it gets close to 95, it just hurts
cold, down to 38 doesn't bother me
I don't purposefully ride in the rain because of the other bone heads
other wise I don't mind it, you don't get that wet on a wing anyways
yep, earlier this week, I had to ride the 23 miles home in the rain all the wayI agree...the heat "hurts" more than the cold bothers. Stay pretty dry on the Wing unless you stop I imagine.
And now I know why the bikers were always lane splitting...not that they necessarily wanted to get in front...they were burning up!yep, earlier this week, I had to ride the 23 miles home in the rain all the way
the wettest part on me was my butt, from setting on the wet seat, figured I would get drinched, but no
my gloves were wet on the back of my hand, and my left shoe was damp
had on my mesh jacket, shirt not even damp, and just hung my jacket in the closet, gets wetter from sweat
Funny how I notice stuff like that now. When I'm around town in the car and I see someone at a light on a bike all geared up...I'm thinking....at this moment, they are miserable. Part of the adventure though.yep
the A/C doesn't work worth a crap until you hit at least 50
That's still pretty damn good! Did your wife ride pillion before she had her own bike? If so, how do two like the difference of that and her riding her own?My wife and I (she rides her own 1800) gave up on riding in the heat a couple of years ago and we rarely go more than 350 miles a day, down from 450-500. I'm 75, she's 70.
I understand what you are saying and it makes perfect sense, although I have upgraded to a 2018 GW Tour DCT and with it being automatic and 100 pounds lighter, with great air channeling to remove the heat under my fanney, I can't wait to get on it anytime. I am an old gezzer at 69.As you get older, do you find yourself a little less enthusiastic about riding in adverse weather?
When you know you are going to have extreme heat let's say...do you find yourself re-thinking things?
I remember when I was young I could play ball all day in the 100* degree heat....now....HELLS no!
What starts me thinking is sitting at lights or in traffic when it is hot...it doesn't even have to be that hot with all the gear on. I still go because once I'm on the road all negative thoughts disappear.
Wind doesn't bother me...I haven't ridden in the rain (except for a few sprinkles) yet.
All part of the adventure of motorcycling. Your thoughts?
C'mon folks, weather is just part of the riding experience. If it really bothers you, ride in a cage. Okay, I agree, heat is worse than cold. Far easier to get and keep warm than to get cool. I wear a wet vest when I expect heat over 85. Works for about as long as I can go without stopping to pee. Realy don't like heat but even when crossing a desert I enjoy the views and overall experience. And look at the stories we get to tell about riding through hell and enjoying it!As you get older, do you find yourself a little less enthusiastic about riding in adverse weather?
