5000 ltd made. First bike make in the usa.
Whenever I see a post about the 85 LTD I'm drawn to it like a magnet :) They arn't the smoothest,or the most comfortable Bike compared to the 1500 or 1800,the technology is 25 years old now
and they don't have the HP of the newer ones either, but you know
what,I love my LTD there's just something about this bike that
feels good.I added a good Sony MP3 player and a Sirius Satellite radio, the latest Chatterbox Bike to Bike Comms. new Dunlop E3's,Saddlebag and Trunkliners,Corbin Seat,Sheepskin seat cover and brought her back to perfect original condition for the Collector plate.
Am I proud of my ride...you bet.
Do I ride much,yep, I don't just look at a bike,its made to ride.
Do I trust it to get me there and back, yep she's a keeper, and
It would be a frosty Friday before I ever part with it now because
she suits Me just fine.

Memory fails me a bit, but pretty sure my '84 Interstate had a VIN tag that read "Made in USA" on the steering head, and came from the Marysville Ohio plant which opened in 1979. The Magna and Saber models were the first to be produced there (I think) and then the Goldwings, Valkries, Shadow 1100 and VTX models followed. I could be all wet, but I think the first GL's rolled out were late production '83 GL1100's. The '84's were the first (again "I think") full model year GL's from that plant. The Marysville auto plant opened in '82, followed by the Anna engine facility in '85, and finally the East Liberty auto plant in '89 completed the Ohio list. As far as I know, there are still no plans as to what Honda will do with the m/c plant once it's closed.
