I am determined to become a goldwing owner with this years tax return. I have a guy trying to sell me an '89 1500/gl in fair cond. It has 65k miles. is this reasonable?
hello and welcome to GWO forums dacusville5. wing motors last a long time. before i got my 1500 i looked at five others and they were between 70,000 and 150,000 miles. if you decide to get that one have the timing belts replaced if the po has not had it done
I don't know what you mean by "fair" condition. the mileage is good, and it seems to me the price is good. But how can I really say, without a peek and a ride? Sometimes you have to stick your neck out.
It's an interstate I think. The condition is mechanically solid, but some upholstery, and the thin piece of plastic that runs the outside of the fairing just above knee level is gone. all the radio knobs and controls are faded. Thanks again for your advice.
oh,okay. The only thing I Know about goldwings is that I want one. I've rode a lot of other bikes, but never owned a road bike. Went through the Harley itch shortly, but this bike just makes sense for me and my wife.
you can get replacement grapics and chrome replacement knobs for the radio and if you jus gotta have the black radio knobs i'll mail you mine. $most '89 wings around here go for between $4500 and $6000 and if you don't want it i'll come get it, i need another wing
Thanks buzzard. I'm going to ride the bike today. I've got some pics already, and I'll see if I can figure out how to post them. If I back out I'll give you the guys phone number. I'm pretty sure he would take $3000 cash.
