Welcome to the forum. Where are you from?

Honda does not use the word "generation" when describing Goldwings. Some folks have taken to using that word though I have seen different categorizations depending on who is writing. They feel it's easier than using actual years even though there are differences from one year to another.

1975 - 1979 GL1000
1980 - 1983 GL1100
1984 - 1987 GL1200
1988 - 2000 GL1500

here's where it gets tricky

GL1800
2001 - 2005
2006 - 2010 is that different enough from above?
no model year 2011 produced
2012 - 2017 are they different enough from the earlier GL1800s?
2018
2019
2020
2021

You decide but IMHO, just use the year.

Honda made changes to the 2014 - 2017 transmissions. I think the 2012 -2013 are also different from the earlier ones.
Butt the 2001 -2010 may all have the same transmission.
You might want to contact a company called Justwings. They specialize in Goldwing transmissions.
