I purchased a 1985 gl 1200 aspencade with 32000 on the clock im the third owner it hasnt needed a lot done to it. I started by replacing the original timing belts and new progresive suspension front and rear the old girl had gotten kind of sloppy and then a lot of detailing to shine her up. This bike has tons of markland addons to numerous to mention shes a jewel her name is BLUE THUNDER

Welcome to the GWOF from Minnesota and congratulations on a nice '85 Aspy. That's what I've got too, only in the beige/champagne or whatever color scheme. Nice rides aren't they?

Good move on the timing belts and of course check the stator harness for good, tight soldered connections. I just got mine in Jan. and after taking care of a few such things and a whole lot of Gumout to free the carbs and choke, he idles like a purring lion and has a lot of go. I haven't checked them let, but I'd be surprised if the compression isn't pretty even across all 4 cylinders and also in the neighborhood of 160ft.lbs.
