Have a 1988 Goldwing that is very difficult to start. Have to set choke at 5/8 position & it takes several attempts where I can't throttle or change choke without dying. This happens in warm weather, impossible in cold. Changed plugs even thou they looked fine with 130000 on bike. Could it be vaccum or bad diaphram causing problem? Or do I just need to have carbs worked on?

Question ? Once it starts do you let it run for a few minutes with the choke on and let warm up a bit before. Trying to shut the choke off.??. Maybe as simple as letting it warm up a bit first.

PAIR Valve, (Pulsed Secondary Air Injection Valve), That it was on my 98Se, hard starting, wouldn't stay at an idle until it was warm.
It was many years ago this happened on my 98 and it was replaced under warranty, If you have a shop manual you can look it up and see where it is located, Sorry I can't help you anymore than that.
