I'm a to be goldwing owner as of tomorrow afternoon, so i need prompt info, pro's & cons. I'm going to buy one of the following bikes, a 1990 1500 with 100,000 miles that hasn't been rode 4 15 months, short of a good cleaning outside i'm told its a great ride.
or a 1987 1200A with 37,000 miles with a puff of smoke on one side when starting, radio that plays when it wants to, needs rear brakes, clutch needs to be bleed, delay in starter a couple of times when used

1990 @ $1500.00
1987 @ $1800.00

I'd go with the 1500, mileage really isn't a concern as I've heard reports of 200,000 miles plus. Unless your very mechanical, I'd walk away from the 1200 with the items you stated it needed. Seems like 1200 parts are coming harder to come by also.

The 1500 is a great deal, go for it!

For what it's worth I'd also take the 1500. The issues onthe 1200 could be more trouble than you need. The puff of smoke islikely on the left cylinder bank right? That's actually common and quite normal, but the other mechanical weaknesses make the 1500 a no brainer really
