Greetings to all like-afflicted 'Wingers. Thanks for having me here.
I recently "stole" (read - got a GREAT deal) on a 1993 GL1500SE with only 58,000 miles.
Now, for the rest of the story. I owned a Suzuki 550 around 25+ years ago & only had it about 1 year. That has been the extent of my two-wheeling life. So, the last year or so, I got a hankerin' (that's southern for desire) for two-wheelin' again, so I started looking & found this one on Craig's list in El Paso, TX, which is over 800 miles from me. After getting the blessing from my wife (I ain't as dumb as I look!), I fly down there & pick it up & ride it home...now for the rest of the rest of the story.
Remember, I haven't been on a bike in over 25 years, and then, only for a year or so. So I hop on this behemoth, pray extensively, and preceed to ride off in 5:00 o'clock traffic in El Paso, down I-10! I can't EVEN explain the pucker factor I was having!
The next to best part? I was trying to outrun a little weather disturbance...called IKE! Well, I stopped for the night in Rodessa, then stopped again in Weatherford, where I really began to pick-up the effects of the hurricane.
The best part? I made it home in perfect shape, not once dropping, crashing, skidding, cramping for the puckering. Tell me God doesn't watch over children & fools!!
Anywho, I'm looking forward to many, many miles of highway, byway, and back road bliss! And to top it off, my wife, who is not too comfortable with bikes (an accident to a family member years ago) is actually getting excited about riding & is requesting rides now! Life is good!
Again, thanks for having me here & having this forum! Look forward to many trip son the road, as well as in here!
Ride Safe & God Bless!
