I am going to purchase a goldwing, i found a few i like that are reasonably priced...my question is,the chrome is peeling off the heads on this 2002 i am looking at.....is it just old or does this mean it was overheated alot??
thanks in advance for any advice. 2002 gl1800 orange in color 85k miles

Likely a bike that was stored outside and exposed to the elements. How do the aluminum parts look? Also, check the fork
tops between the triple tree clamps for rust and pitting.
I have not heard of the head chrome peeling, especially if stored inside. The other possibility is that aftermarket head
trim covers are there and failing. There has been a lot of posts over the years about aftermarket chrome failures.
A photo would help to see whats there.
Overheating should not effect Honda chrome unless it's really excessive overheating.

That sounds like the bike at National Powersports in NH. It is a smoking hot deal! Been working my friend to go buy it (he sold his GL1500 last year). Even thought about buying it myself for a cheap spare.

Congrats. We had one in orange that came to a ride to eat (RTE) last year and it really looks sharp. A few of us are planning a couple RTEs after the weather breaks. Lincoln, NH and Amherst, MA. I'll post when the details are set.

Welcome to the forum and good luck on your search for a Wing. There are plenty out there, so if there is something that is putting you off on a particular Wing then let it go. As Fossil says, get the one that sings the "ride me" song.

I have a spot on one head doing that and on the trunk where it hits when it closes

I would check your spoiler LED light - it looks like it is a stop only version. I won the EC LED running, turn signal, brake light back in (I think) 2006 at a breakfast a vendor used to have on the closing Saturday when there was a Honda Hoot in Knoxville. It added more exposure and I love that it added a higher visibility of braking and turn signals to the vehicles behind me.

It is a sweet looking Wing for sure.
