I took this shot of a Curlew defending its 2 eggs (between the feet) just outside my motel door at Airlie Beach last month. The eggs were just laid on the bare gravel next to the swimming pool & they just look like rocks. Eggs are about small chicken size

At the time I reckon a curlew in that pose could be a candidate for an Australianised Goldwing emblem.

They can get real agrow when they have eggs or young ones and don't care how big you are. I like them because they are very gutsy bird. Eric

According to some historical ( hysterical ) accounts, if Ben Franklin had his way the Turkey would have been our national symbol and it too would have passed on to the Goldwing. If that were the case I would peel mine off and replace it with a curlew.
