Hello from beautiful Georgia,

I am an eyelash away fro trading in my 2002 1800S VTX for a 2008or 2009 Wing. I have been doing my research for several months and have decided on my Christmas present, yes a brand new 2008/ or 09 Goldwing. If anyone has ridden a 08 and 09 could you please provide me with some information? Any information at this point will be well received. I will probably swing this deal next week or before Christmas at the latest.

I was kicking around the idea on getting a Harley Ultra but something in my gut tells me not to do it. Finally last night I spoke with a very good friend (Harley Guy) and he told me that the Wing for touring is (A1) the best. Do any of you folks use your wing to commute? If you do please provide some feedback.

Thanks and SEMPER FI!

Welcome to the GW forum!
I ride an older model('81 Interstate) every day, weather permitting, to/from work. It's a 26 mile ride one way, all Interstate 20, with no heavy traffic most days. I LOVE it. It's really peaceful, and relaxing for me.
For touring, there IS no better ride than a Goldwing, imho. I've had other bikes in the past, including a couple of Hardlys, but none as comfortable as the Wing. The newer ones have way more features than my '81, so they're much better, tho I haven't ridden one. I can only imagine how much sweeter an '08-'09 would be...

I own an 08 wing. I have done some touring two up and also commute back and forth to work on it. The one way is 10 miles so it isn't a big ride. The bike is so agile you can't believe it is that big once you are on it. In the twisty sections it handles with sport bike ease. When two up I run the rear air shocks at 19 0r 20 to keep from hitting the side stand and boards on the road in turns. My 1500 was a good stable bike but the 08 is even better. Enjoy.

Greetings,

Hey, guys thanks for all of the information. I will most likely pick the bike up this Friday the 12th of December. It will be hard to part with my 1800S VTX, but it is time for a change. Hopefully it will be worth it, once again thanks. for all of the feedback.

once you ride the wing you'll forget all about the big vtx, take plenty pics of the vtx as a reminder

Marine, the difference between the 2008 and 2009 is XM radio and TPMS for the 2009. Oh, and about $2,200 increase on the 2009. This is what swayed us to buy a 2008. No other differences, I hope this helps and Merry Christmas to you!! :)
