Most radiator shops will dip tanks to remove rust, and they will also coat them after they are dipped. I would only be concerned with screens inside them. My 84 has a large screen in the bottom at the fuel outlet. I worry about it being atleast partly plugged from the coating, so have not done it yet. A friend of mine said so simply fill the tank with gas as soon as you get it clean to keep it from rusting more. Of course the cost of the gas is almost the cost of a new tank if you could find one. LOL
