Currently here in town (calculated to equal your gallon and US $ without the rate of exchange applied as it's minimal right now):
87 (reg) @ Shell $3.94/US gal
91 (prem) @ Shell $4.35/US gal
pump diesel @ Shell $4.24/us gal
Canadian equivalents (volume):
87: $4.85/ gal (1.07/l)
91: $5.31/ gal (1.17/l)
diesel: $5.17 gal (1.14/l)
These are 'real' gas prices at the pumps here as of this morning. No ehtanol (but Shell does put nitrogen in their petrol ??!*$?) added to dilute the mix or anything. Husky, Mohawk, Petro Can all put ethanol up to 10% in their pump fuel. Not sure about Esso as we don't have a retailer here in town. I buy all my fuel at a retailer from a small refinery in Central Alberta (Bowden) called Fas Gas; no ethanol, best pump prices (+ discount volume card log). Premium for the RC51, wife's car and the snowmobiles, regular for the Wing and the yard implements. Never an issue on fuel quality and I get the satisfaction of not padding the coffers of the oil giants. Living here in the Alberta Republic (LOL) I realize that the economy is balanced and "fueled" (pun very much intended) by the 'generosity' of the huge refineries, but I always love to support the little guy. Even though we get bent over by these big so and so's, things are actually pretty good here. What p's me off is that it could be so very much better for everyone with a certain amount of fiscal responsibility.
